Am I religious?

A persistent, recurring and defining factor of this channel over the years has been my relentless commitment to unbiased research and modeling information, by converting raw data into actionable knowledge. Reaching as much as it is feasible, as close to full neutrality in all subject matters examined as possible. I value unbiased positions, as they are the central core of all professional research and data analysis.

I of course have preserences, hopes, desires, ideas and these can transform into bias, however I try to set them aside as I seek to avoid influencing the reading of the data.

Reseach is always a complex narrative that cannot be extricated from the contemporary intellectual framework alone and it requires correct assessment of evidence.

A part from my historical videos, I've made videos on the history or religion, the historicity of religious figures and the ontological linguistic analysis of the bible.

That's because this channel is interdisciplinary in nature, and reflects my own constitutive eclectic range of interests.

As I read the comments under those videos I notice that people appear to perceive me as several different things all at once. Atheist, agnostic, religious. I take that as evidence of at least a marginal degree of success for my position of academic neutrality during such presentations, which is always my base model of information gathering and assessment.

Research bias is the act of influencing the process of a systematic investigation, whether it be done knowingly or unknowingly. The presence of bias, may lead to inconsistent results and can be the reason for the poor validity of research outcomes, lack of accuracy and suboptimal reporting.

How do we guard from it?

Avoiding generalized statements, accumulating empirical evidence, putting together a team, and other methodological design measures within systematic review are all methods to reduce personal bias, since the first principle of researching is impartiality.

However, I think the first step in showing my williness to always improve in my quest for impartiality is to recognize my possible sources of bias.

I have reached a point in my channel's life where I believe in order to ensure an higher level of unbiased research and delivery I must disclose publicly any potential source of personal bias I may hold.

I've already covered that from a political stand point, eventhough I'm basically a moderate, I do tend to lean occasionally on one side, and other times on the other, depending on the subject under discussion, but only in my personal life. I do not let politics influence my research. Yet there is the matter of faith.

Hence, I believe it is now time to discuss whether I am religious or not.

And to those who tell me in the comments "it's impossible to be unbiased", first that's not what I'm saying. I am not saying I have zero bias, no one can, I am saying however that it's imperative to try and reduce one's bias as much as possible. And there is a plethora of sources, lectures, peer reviewed studies and meta data that bring forth several methods and modes of engagement to achieve just that. Bias prevention.

This is from the best minds among us, not me.

So what I try to reach is industry standard within academia. Do not believe those who tell you otherwise. Bias must be approached, identified and avoided to the limits of our minds' capabilities.
.
So what types of bias are there?

Design bias , attricion bias, selection bias, publication bias, analysis bias which arises during data processing, spectrum bias, procedural bias and many more. Dealing with numbers, integers and statistics is not as susceptible to bias as with qualitative facts. So we must be even more aware of our own biases when shifting concepts into veridical experiences, and categories within phenomenological-hermeneutical domains.

Thus I make this video. Not only to answer a possible curiosity about me some of you do have, but most importantly because by disclosing any potential personal source of bias, I may be helping the reaching of truth and the pursue of knowledge, which is my ultimate goal.

Knowledge which is bound by historically available instruments and theories; knowledge which is based on truth. Truth which exists independently of the perceivers. Therefore it can be sought.
Ever bound by its relations of correspondence with the limitations of perceptual analysis.

Approach any object of inquiry, and see it from different angles to become confident that its appearance is coherent with reality.

So onto the answer. Am I religious? Truth be told, I am a man of faith.

I don't think I remember a single moment in my entire life when I did not have faith in God. I am a theist, I believe in God, I worship God, I pray to God. Moreover I am a Christian.
