Imam Sadiq (peace and blessings be with him) said, “There will come a time when doubts are cast on you [concerning your beliefs] and you are left with no visible signposts, nor an [Infallible] Imam to guide you. No one can escape such doubts except the one who prays to God through the ‘Supplication of the Drowned’

O God, the Kind, the Loving! O the One who overturns the hearts! Fix my heart on your religion.

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ سَتُصِيبُكُمْ شُبْهَةٌ فَتَبْقَوْنَ بِلَا عَلَمٍ يُرَى وَ لَا إِمَامٍ هُدًى وَ لَا يَنْجُو مِنْهَا إِلَّا مَنْ دَعَا بِدُعَاءِ الْغَرِيقِ

" يَا اللَّهُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ‏ قَلْبِي‏ عَلَى دِينِك‏"

امام صادق علیه السلام فرمودند:
ابهام ها و تردیدهایی (در امر دین) به شما خواهد رسید؛ بدون آن که نشانه ای (برای رهایی از حیرت) دیده شود یا پیشوای هدایت (امام معصوم) آشکار باشد و از این گرداب هلاکت جز کسی که خداوند را با «دعای غریق» بخواند نجات نمی یابد.

«ای خدا! ای بخشنده! ای مهربان! ای که دگرگونی دل ها به دست توست! قلب مرا بر آیین خویش استوار فرما!»
