YouTube is following other apps, which have gone away from this device. It is already more difficult to click on the link and get YouTube started.

We are looking at the A1469, the later cost cutting version. We can see how it’s rendered on a 4K tv. It has lasted through 7 years.

The biggest advantages are the intuitive UX and YouTube with very few ads. The disadvantages are the apps going away and smearing on a 4K tv.

For now, this is being replaced with an Amazon Fire Stick 4K.

Newer Apple TV’s are objectively much better, and those in the pipeline are better still. They are also much more expensive. In my case, another Apple TV would mean paying for features I would never use.

An upscale TV stick from Apple would be useful, but it’s unlikely to happen.
