Elves carbon bike frames that are made in Shenzhen in China, specifically the Falath Evo, has been found to contain glass fibre within the carbon steerer tube.

A fellow YouTuber, Cam Nicholls, has been building up a new race bike recently using some more budget oriented parts, and he chose to use the Falath Evo bike frame from Elves. Upon inspection, the carbon steerer tube was found to contain a layer of glass fibre (fibreglass).

In his video, he spoke with some industry specialists, and discussed the possibility that the glass fiber was used as a cost saving measure. Not only is glass fiber cheaper, but it is also easier to machine and finish compared to carbon.

I have a number of VERY cheap carbon bike frames (some less that half as much as the Elves Falath Evo), so if this hypothesis holds up, all of my carbon steerer tubes should include glass fibre. So I took my bikes apart to figure it out!
