True Portuguese cod recipe. In Portugal there are more than 1000 recipes for cooking cod, undoubtedly the country's star product.
Note: In the video I write: there are more than 100 cod recipes in Portugal. It was a small mistake, I forgot a digit.
This baked cod recipe, known as "bacalhau á Gomes de Sà" is tasty and easy to prepare. Cod is such a special fish that it doesn't need many embellishments to make an excellent dish.
The most commonly used cod in Portuguese cuisine is that it is salted. Here are some instructions to desalt cod correctly.
How to desalt cod:
First wash away all the visible salt, prepare a container with cold water and submerge the piece of cod. It has to be completely submerged. Change the water every 8 hours for two or three days, depending on the thickness of the cod. The water must be very cold. Keep the container in a cool place or even in the refrigerator.
