When first learning how to play chords, we learn to play them in root position. But, that becomes awkward.

There's a better way. Instead, we play chords in inversions to make it easier to find the next chord.

My student was having a difficult time with playing the inversions, so here's a video to illustrate.

* Finding the common note is key.
