For those who are unfamiliar with the practice of limewashing trees: Limewash /whitewash is an old and very good agricultural practice to protect the trees from sun burn and sun scalding, certain insects and wood boring pests. Any fruit-bearing or ornamental tree will benefit greatly from limewash. It might look a bit weird for those who are not used to it, but it gives the trees a healthier leg up and it’s a very common practice in islands, Mediterranean and Aegean coastal regions, Eastern European countries, and central Asian countries because of its benefits 🙌
If you want to give it a try make sure you use only limewash or interior latex paint in a 1:1 ratio with water. Never use oil based paints (including spray paint) and exterior latex paints as they can hurt the trees.
