Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring vocalist Roxana Amed.

The Argentine-American jazz vocalist recently played the famed Jazz Gallery in New York City. Roxana's new album "Becoming Human" was made possible with support from Chamber Music America's New Jazz Works. All of the compositions were written and produced by Roxana and performed by her band Martin Bejerano,(piano), Mark Small(tenor sax and clarinet), Kendall Moore(trombone), Edward Perez(bass), and Ludwig Afonso(drums). This is her 12th record and she continues to fuse music from her South American folk traditions and post-bob jazz.

Roxana is a two-time Grammy nominated artist and has collaborated with the likes of Pedro Aznar, Frank Calberg, Chucho Valdes, and Alejandra Pizarnik.

We sat down after performance to talk about the new record, her transition from Buenos Aires to Miami, and how she was exposed to jazz music.
