The announcement of the new Aluminum Ford F-150 has sent the industry running for more information on repair and replacing body and structural components.

Statistics say that less than 10 percent of the more than 30,000 independent repair shops in the U.S. meet the training and equipment requirements to work aluminum. Are you one of the shops ready for Aluminum or are you beginning your search for equipment and training?

The troubling part is that statistic is that it represents majority of the higher end European based shops, not the typical repair choice for the Ford vehicle owner.

For Collision Repair shop owners, it's a do or die time to make the investments in training and equipment. The Ford F150 will just be the beginning of a revolution in redesign involving aluminum as more OEM's race to meet the future CAFE standards.

In this video Larry Montanez, P&L Consultants discusses some repair considerations and techniques for Aluminum body panels.
