1st Responders came to the scene of a crash on the right shoulder of the southbound SR-163. The car had heavy damage to one side of it. The driver was not in the vehicle.

A search of the area found the male driver, who had been ejected approx 50 feet from the crash site. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Firefighters searched for anyone else who may have been in the car but didn’t find anyone. The CHP is investigating. Speed and Wet Roads may have played a part in this crash.

Solo Vehicle Roll-Over Crash on State Route 163 Results in Fatality

San Diego, CA- On Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 4:05 a.m., an
18-year-old male from Perris, CA was driving a Nissan Maxima on State Route
163 (SR-163) southbound, north of Friars Road. For reasons under investigation,
the Nissan veered off the roadway and crashed with a tree. The force of the crash
caused the Nissan to overturn, ejecting the driver. The driver, who was the sole
occupant, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. A
toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s
Office to determine if alcohol/and or drugs were a factor in the crash. All traffic
lanes of SR-163 southbound, north of Friars Road remained open throughout the
on-scene investigation.
