Today I'm taking you guys inside Palenque, the first free black town in America. The Spanish settled in nearby Cartagena and built castles and forts with African slaves doing all the labor. Some managed to escape to the town of Palenque to be free. The people now living here are the direct descendants of the the African slaves that managed to escape and be free. Join me on this cultural adventure.
