I hope this video is helpful for anyone new to a mini excavator, or new to working with Diesel engines!

I really contemplated even posting this video because the answer was just so simple, in the end. However, I do believe that sharing is caring, and I think there is value in some of the information in this video.

We literally looked at every possible reason as to why the machine had a hard time starting, and although the machine suffered a little bit in our learning of it (and it's own little flaw), I learned a tremendous amount about this machine and feel much more equipped with information to do some troubleshooting and maintenance on my own.

* To clarify (because Steve says I didn't explain it very well in the comfort of my bath tub 😜) - the way the manual explains the warming up of the glow plugs doesn't coincide with how the machine actually works to show that - there is no indication that the glow plugs are warming up by a light, as described in the manual. So we always deferred to the setting where the light would actually illuminate, which wasn't giving 12 volts to the glow plugs. Our other 2 machines (bobcat and Hitachi 75) are very clear on this, so that is where all the confusion was. We always did wonder if it was, in fact, just something simple we were or weren't doing, and it turns out that was the case.
