The first word that comes to mind with the new Audi Q7 is versatility. You see it can seat up to seven people in lavish comfort and yet has the driving manners of something much smaller and lighter and it can even manage a bit of proper off-roading. The five-metre-long Audi Q7 has been one of the very best luxury SUVs since its launch a few years ago and continues to head up the Audi SUV range even now in 2023.
In our opinion, the latest Audi Q7 is one of the best luxury SUVs on sale; capable of taking on other competition such as the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE, while it can can more than hold its own against premium 4x4s such as the Range Rover Sport. It’s great to drive too, offering a really smooth ride with sure-footed grip, traction and fantastic body control. The vast interior offers plenty of space for five large and two smaller humans, entry level models are super well-equipped.
The engine line-up consists of two diesels and one petrol, the 45 TDI, 50 TDI and 55 TFSI respectively. The diesels are 3.0-litre V6 units with 228bhp and 282bhp; the petrol also gets a 3.0-litre V6 and but produces 335bhp.
The Audi Q7 is a brilliant car for a big family. It’s among the roomiest cars of its type, with generous space surrounding each of its seven seats, and with so many different options over how much of the space is used for seating and how much is used for cargo, this makes it incredibly versatile. Just as importantly, it’s an ideal family car in the way it drives. On all types of road, the Audi Q7 remains comfortable and quiet, offering a relaxed and rather peaceful journey, long or short.
It may be large and a little expensive, but the Audi Q7 is simply unmatched for its all-round ability, practicality and total attention to detail. Even several years on from launch it remains one of the best cars in its class.
