In honor of Miyazaki's latest film 'The Boy and the Heron' hitting the theaters (great movie btw) I decided to analyze protagonist' of Japanese Anime series and films.

I came across a comment suggesting that 'Demon Slayer' would be improved if Zenitsu were the protagonist instead of Tanjiro. The reason given was that viewers might find it easier to identify with Zenitsu's character traits and struggles, as opposed to those of Tanjiro, the current main character. This is true to some extent, but why do we identify with characters such as Zenitsu, and Harry Potter, but not in characters like Tanjiro?

In this insightful exploration, we compare and contrast the unique hero archetypes in Eastern and Western narratives, shedding light on how cultural influences shape our beloved characters.
