What do you need to know when buying a printer to print on Canvas, Art Paper, and DIY?

Usually, I would recommend a minimum of 13" x 19" However, it all depends on what you need. Make sure to think it thoroughly before going to the next step.



Now, Can any Plotter or Large-format printer print on Canvas, or thick art paper?

Sadly, No. Many printers are made only to print on thin paper, so when you try printing on canvas, they usually come at weights between 280GSM - 420 GSM. Some Art-papers are also pretty thick, But the printers i picked in this video are known to work well, and people have successfully used them for printing on canvas which makes them a good option.



What type of Ink is preferred when printing High-quality photos, art, and paintings on canvas?

Usually when you print on canvas, you have to make sure that you use Pigment-Based Inks. Canvas doesn't work out very well with Dye-Based Inks, and will not give you the satisfying finish you are looking for when printing on canvas.


Printer Resolution?

As important as it sounds, it's not that big of a deal. Usually, canvas prints are done to be looked at from a distance, and from a distance having very high resolution doesn't really matter. What matters more is Color-Quality and Deep Dark Blacks.

What else?

Make sure to keep in mind how many times you are willing to print every day. If you aren't going to be using it much, you can get by a Budget or Mid-range printer.

However, if you are looking to print many prints a day, and sell them, you will definitely need a higher-quality printer which will produce professional results and will do much faster prints. That means you get to sell more, and you can sell your prints for more too due to the professional quality.

Number 5: Canon Pixma Pro IP8720 is your best Budget-Option, it produces amazing quality prints for its price, and some people have used it for canvas.

Number 4: Epson Surecolor P800 is an Amazing Higher-end option, this will produce professional prints, and is definitely a good option for printing on canvas.

Number 3: Epson Stylus Pro 3880
This is your best High-end Option, and is known to be used by many people, and will give you the best results. Be-aware that it uses a lot of ink.

Number 2: Canon PIXMA PRO-10
Another fantastic option, If you love Canon's quality then definitely go for this one. Canon are rising the ladder of producing amazing printers every year. If you are looking for a High-End canon Option go for the Bigger brother the Canon Pixma-Pro 1000

Number 1: Epson Artisan 1430
This is the most popular choice among people who print on canvas,.
