Big news! I was offered a 2015 Nissan Leaf to use for parts in my electric car conversion. The only problem? It was on the other side of the country and I had no tow vehicle.

The guys at Drive EV in Taupo helped me out though, by offering me their car towing Tesla Model S P100D, named Hulk, and a car hauling trailer. These guys are absolute legends and I owe them many, many potatoes.
Drive EV sell only clean, electric cars and they're also a fun bunch of people. Check them out at https://www.driveev.co.nz/
THANK YOU, STEVE!

So, I agreed to buy the Leaf, I got my hands on a tow vehicle & trailer, I'd planned a route. The only thing that could stop me now was road closures, and boy, there were a lot of them... Then the other problem was getting home through the night in an electric car towing about a tonne of weight. How would I recharge? Where would I recharge?

The thing is, there's a phrase in New Zealand: "Kiwis love a challenge" and I think it came about from hardship. We've always been so far from the rest of the world with fewer resources to do the same jobs. It means we have to scrounge and innovate and 'make do', just to achieve the same results. So the phrase tries to turn a negative into a positive. And as you can see in this video, sometimes it's true.

Mildly interesting point: I don't make any money out of these videos. Not a single dollar. They're not 'monetised'. I honestly make them just for fun, to entertain you, and share my electric car conversion adventure.
So if you got a kick out of this video, please consider pressing the "Like" button and perhaps leave your thoughts in the comments. This might increase the chances of Youtube recommending this video to others who don't know it exists.
Liking and commenting won't cost you a single thing and you'll feel better for doing it. Plus, I'll think you're awesome. Which you are. And yes, I just tried dollar store psychology. Did it work? 😅

Stay tuned for the next video, coming soon, in which I remove the Nissan Leaf motor and the Austin Allegro engine, to see what will fit. Then it's time to start welding!
