Tesla's new 4680 battery cell will be hitting the roads inside the Model Y in 2022. Tesla already makes the most efficient electric vehicles on the road, but the 4680 is expected to halve the cost of the battery - the most expensive part of the EV, which will be a game changer for Tesla in bringing more electric cars on the road at prices competitive with ICE cars.
