I want to install a non OEM product and see if it performs similarly compared to the original. My 2022 Ford F150 Lightning Pro does not come with Tailgate Assist and let me tell you, the tailgate is HEAVY and will break an arm or two to open. So far, it works very well, and it helps the aesthetic without looking too busy having additional struck exposed. Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to install the Tailgate Lock at the same time. The McGard tailgate lock is also sold by ford accessories.

Really only 2 tools are required:
Torx Plus 50 Socket
5/16 Inch Socket
