Police say three law enforcement officers serving a warrant for a felon wanted for possessing a firearm were killed Monday in a shootout at a Charlotte, NC home. Several other officers were injured.

During the shooting, three officers killed were serving together on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Four Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were also shot. One CMPD officer is in critical condition.

Responding officers who were met with gunfire at the home on Galway Drive returned fire, leaving the initial shooter dead. As officers approached that individual, more gunfire came from inside the home. The residence was cleared after a long standoff. Two people who were inside the home were taken to the police station.
