The Dragon Ball Z Budokai video game series was the first opportunity millions of fans around the world had to play as characters from Dragon Ball franchise. Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 is considered the most controversial game in the series largely due to it's unique story mode. This mode is called Dragon World and takes place on board game like stages. Budokai 2 was the last entry in the series on the GameCube as Budokai 3 jump to being exclusive to the PS2.
In this game retrospective review I break down Dragon World and the mechanics of Budokai 2 to explain why I still love Budokai 2 despite it being the least popular entry. Budokai 2 even had the misfortune of being left out of the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai HD Collection that repacked Budokai and Budokai 2 with HD graphics for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
