When an artist makes a name change, their next releases need to leave a big impression. So what’d Latto do? She broke out a sample of Tom Tom Club’s “Genius of Love," knowing that the sparkling ’80s cult classic has backboned hits like Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy” and Mark Morrison’s “Return Of The Mack." Now a whole new generation is hip to the iconic beat courtesy of the Atlanta rapper's “Big Energy.” In the video, which has been viewed more than 20 million times, Latto doubles down on her name. In one scene she's a lottery host; in another she dances on a roulette table. Fittingly, her second album is called ‘777.’ We felt like we won on the slots when she came through our Ctrl studios. “Big Latto, short for lottery / so f— I look like losing?,” she rapped in our “Trust No Bitch” performance. Fan fave "Wheelie" sounded hard sans 21 Savage, too. Latto's always had a winning attitude, now she’s taking it to the bank.
