"Can I openly say that I'm in therapy to talk about all this?" Jakob says on the train to Pirna. He's going to a demonstration in the "Saxon hinterland." That's what the 22-year-old calls everything outside of Dresden and Leipzig. It's where "the fascists" call the shots and where things can quickly become dangerous for him.
Jakob is a left-wing activist, and his schedule has never been as packed as it is this year. Young right-wingers claim that East German youth vote for the right. The political science student counters: "Especially when neo-Nazis accuse me of not being East German, or not being Saxon, I just say: East Germany is so many things, and people like me are part of it."
