In this clip, Jason Lee spoke about leaving the foster care system and moving back in with his mother when he was 14, and he explained that while he missed her after 5 years, he also had animosity toward her. Jason explained that this led him to seek out and form relationships with his father’s side of the family, and he also spoke about how his mother was verbally abusive. Speaking more about the abuse, Jason detailed how his mother reacted to his brother’s death by telling Jason that it should’ve been him.

Moving along, Jason spoke about Michael Jackson coming to his elementary school in Stockton after a gunman shot and killed 5 kids and himself, and he also wounded 32 others. Jason explained that Michael told his fellow students that their lives mattered, and Jason added that he fell in love with Michael after that day. Jason then went on to speak about how he called Michael’s studio every day as a kid, trying to get in touch with him. Jason revealed that he developed a relationship with Michael’s assistant after calling so much, and one day Michael called him back. Jason then detailed their conversation, including Michael telling him that he was “special,” and Jason added that he never called Michael again.
