What started out as an interstitial on a comedy sketch show has ballooned into a cultural juggernaut and one of the longest running shows of all time. With over 700 episodes and counting there are more than a few secrets and nods to be pulled out of the show that may never end. Matt Groening has gone from alt comic strip artist whose rabbit staring Life in Hell comics ran in free weekly papers to creating a show that is as much part of the popular culture as it takes stabs at the popular culture. The real world has feuled stories and filled out the town of Springfield USA and it’s expanding cast of weirdos. Drawing from sources as simple as street names to as complicated as inner team strife or just making fun of a reclusive but successful writer, the Simpsons mythology only continues to grow and grow. With it comes an ever increasing number of inside jokes and references as well as room for the writers to stretch their legs on their individual interests, like hyper advanced mathematics. The show is so popular that people have even managed to manifest even the worst idea from The Simpsons into the real world where a team has raced a real live Homer automobile or even a Simpsons house…that no one apparently wanted to actually live in or have in their neighborhood.
