The event commenced with an opening speech from ICREA Prof José Garrido and Dr Neus Bastús, who set the stage with a quote from Ani Difranco: "My idea of feminism is self-determination and it's very open-ended: every woman has the right to become herself and do whatever she needs to do." This quote underlines the core values of the ICN2 Equal Opportunities Committee and their efforts towards promoting inclusion in the world of science.

Two talented researchers, Dr Noemí Contreras Pereda and Dr Ting Zhang, shared their award-winning research on 2D porous crystalline materials and Zn-based metal-organic frameworks, respectively.
