I admire the Creative work of filmmakers like these folks who made this "educational" film to indicate how important animals were in the making of clothing at that time. I remember as a teenager when my mother sold her real animal fur coat which was something she was proud of in the 1940s and early 1950s and the animal rights movement influenced her thinking. She then bought a fake fur and felt really good about that. At the time that this was produced most of us were not aware that animals were in the clothing that we wore. Animal rights organizations were beginning to push at the clothing industry and this 16mm film was made as an (we used to call it) industrial. I do not know whether or not it was shown on national television at that time.

While in New York City recently, I walked by the place where a furrier had a big store on 57th St. It is now a computer store. I don't know if "furriers" still exist as businesses selling old real animal fur coats and shawls.
