Toyota’s mighty J100 Land Cruiser Amazon was the big-beast, full-fat, go-anywhere monster 4x4 in the 1990s, and I have to confess I have always fancied owning one.

And this week, thanks to friend of the CarGuys, Nick, my wish has been granted, and I get to experience and drive this pristine restored 1999 V8 petrol example in Ashdown Green.

At last I get to find out what it’s like piloting this 2.4 tonne monster on the roads of Britain - how does it drive? How comfortable is it? How well does it go and stop? How practical and useful is it today? And of course, what is it like when you give something this massive The Beans?

So join me for a full review of Toyota’s fearsome 4x4 and let’s discuss its design, interior, exterior, engine, history, comfort, quirky features and on-road performance. Let’s off-load!
