As evidence for the impacts of climate change becomes overwhelming, technological solutions are increasingly mature, affordable, and rich with co-benefits, but still too slowly deployed. Professor Field explores how leveling the economic playing field, government investments, and novel mechanisms to spur international collaboration can accelerate progress.

Professor Field has been deeply involved with efforts to advance the understanding of global ecology and and served as co-chair of Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change from 2008-2015. His work ranges from improving climate models to prospecting renewable energy systems and community organizations that can minimize the risk of a tragedy of the commons. He has garnered much recognition for his work, including election to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the Max Planck Research Award, and the Roger Revelle Medal.
