Lincoln's Assassination shocked the nation, and there were even rumors that his Vice President Andrew Johnson had something to do with it. Either way, Johnson became president upon Lincoln's death, and every historian agrees he was rubbish in comparison. He was so bad that he was the first president to be impeached.
