When I first approached my wife about improving our financial situation, I went about it all wrong 😑

I was like, “Let’s build wealth and become debt-free! First things first, let’s cut our spending in half.”

She was like, “That sounds horrible, Andy.”

I thought I was a genius and she just “didn’t get it”. I continued to share numbers and concepts with her like growing net worth, becoming debt-free and eventually becoming millionaires.

Still … (crickets)

Eventually, I realized I wasn’t speaking her language.

She didn’t care about numbers. She cared about what all that hard work, dedication and sacrifice was going to do for us.

So when I got a chance for round two, I remembered to speak her language (instead of mine).

Round 2 Andy: “I know you’re not enjoying your job. And you want to eventually be a stay-at-home Mom. Would you be open to listening to my plan on how we can make that a reality?”

Round 2 Nicole: “Now THAT sounds interesting.”

And the door was open…
