The Stony Brook Provost's Lecture Series features talks by the university's SUNY Distinguished Academy faculty highlighting their areas of deep expertise. Georges Fouron delivered a talk, "Citizenship in the Age of Globalization, Glocalization, Transnational Migration, and Multiculturalism" on November 14, 2023.
Fouron is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of Africana Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. He has been on the faculty at Stony Brook since 1985. As a teacher, he speaks powerfully to the complexities of racial politics, calling attention to the Haitian diaspora and issues of transnationalism.
