Today, I'm going to show you how to DIY this vintage-inspired bench! If you're looking for budget-friendly home decor that'll give you the look for less, then you're not going to want to miss this! :)

I drove over to my local Home Depot and picked up two 2x2 boards, as well as a 2x8 board. The 2x8 board is eight feet long, so you'll probably want to have Home Depot/Lowes, etc. cut the piece of wood in half to make it easier to get in your vehicle. Using a miter saw, I cut the bench seat to 17 inches and the legs to 18 3/4 inches each, all with 15-degree angles. You'll need 4 legs, two middle supports, and one support to bring everything together for extra sturdiness. I made it a little bit easier and included a sketch (in the video) with all the measurements you'll need!

After I cut all the pieces, I laid them out to make sure they all looked correct, then continued to pre-drill holes for the screws. I used 2.5-inch screws to attach the pieces together, making sure the leg pieces mirror each other exactly. After that... the fun begins! I distressed the wood to give it that rustic look using a few different tools: a wood chisel helped me to take off the corners and round out the legs, and a wire brush helped to bring out that beautiful wood grain. Lastly, I sanded everything down with 100-grit sandpaper... and voila.. it was complete! ;)
