Subtext is important in dialogue. Without it, conversations don't feel realistic. Do you use subtext in the dialogue you write?

Subtext is what your characters don't say, but it still an important part of your dialogue. It's the underlying thoughts and feelings of your characters. The added layer that makes your writing realistic.

The most important thing when you're new to writing, or a beginner at anything really, is to keep writing. Keep putting down words, paragraphs, plots, characters, you will learn as you go, and you can use the experience of the writing community to fill in the gaps where you're not sure.
