Four years after India's Supreme Court made the historic decision to repeal a law that criminalized same-sex relationships, it has agreed to hear petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriages. This has raised hopes of securing another significant right for India's LGBTQ+ community. Four same-sex couples have requested that the Supreme Court recognize their marriages and argue that without legal recognition, they are denied their basic rights. However, there is resistance to this move from the Hindu right wing, who view it as a violation of Indian culture.
