Reviewing Google's Pixel 6 smartphone again six months later and ahead of the Pixel 7 launch, with long term thoughts on the camera tech, gaming performance, battery life and beyond. Google's phone has received many Android updates in 2022, including slick new features like call screening. But the Pixel 6 also has strong competition from the Oppo Find X5, Samsung's S22 series phones and the Xiaomi 12.

Google's flagship is still one of my favourite camera phones, thanks to the simple point and shoot nature. On auto mode you'll get great looking photos even of moving subjects, pretty much every time. Of course the ultra-wide lens isn't as impressive as rivals, while the Oppo Find X5 is hot competition for the Pixel 6 in low light.

Gaming seems to be a smoother, more enjoyable experience after some Tensor fine tuning or other background updates. Genshin Impact plays with a more stable frame rate on higher detail settings. And while battery life isn't quite as good as six months ago, the Pixel 6 still happily lasts a day on a single charge with around 6-7 hours of screen on time.
