New Jersey is known for its bustling coastal cities and is often referred to as the "Diner Capital of the World". It's home of some of the best artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Frank Sinatra and its beaches are popular vacation destinations but before you come and visit them remember these things not to do!

1) Don't Tamper with a beach sand dune
Sand dunes serve as a natural barrier. Disturbing or altering the dunes can harm the delicate ecosystems that thrive there. You may face fines, community service, and in some cases, even jail time.

2) Don't Feed a bear in a state park
Feeding bears can lead to the animals becoming habituated to human presence, which can be dangerous for both the bears and park visitors. They may become bold and lose their natural fear of humans becoming a nuisance or causing damage in nearby residential areas.

3) Don't Fly a kite on a beach during the summer months
Flying a kite in these crowded areas can be a hazard to other beachgoers, as the kite strings can become entangled with people or beach umbrellas. Also, the sound of a kite flapping in the wind can be disruptive to others trying to enjoy the beach.

4) Don't Ask for a "sub" instead of a "hoagie"
A "hoagie" refers to a long sandwich filled with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and other toppings, usually served on a round roll. Asking for a "sub" instead of a "hoagie" will stand you up as an outsider, and may result in some playful teasing from locals.

5) Don't Refuse to try a "Salty Dog" at the beach
A "Salty Dog" is a popular cocktail made with gin and grapefruit juice, served in a highball glass rimmed with salt. Refusing it will be considered as not being willing to embrace local culture and traditions, and may result in some friendly teasing from locals.

6) Don't Throw a frisbee in a public park after dark
This can pose a hazard to other park visitors and increase the risk of accidents. It may even result in legal consequences. Take the opportunity to visit a diner intead it will worth it.

7) Don't forget that Westfield is a spooky haven
This town might surprise you. Some people reported receiving letters that suggested their home was haunted. A house in the town also inspired the design of the Addams Family Mansion. So if you are scared of ghosts remember to go somewhere else.

8) Don't confuse Wawa with a QuickChek
Wawa and QuickChek are two of the most popular convenience store chains in New Jersey. Wawa is known for its wide selection of hoagies (sub sandwiches), breakfast items, and made-to-order food and drinks. It's considered a "destination store," meaning that people will often go out of their way to visit one.
QuickChek is known for its fast service, wide selection of food and drinks, and competitive prices. Considered a "neighborhood store," it's often located in residential areas and is used for quick, convenient shopping trips.

9) Don't keep your eye from your car
More cars are stolen in the city of Newark than any other city in the United States. So if you happen to be in this neighbourhood try to stay close to your car at any time or you may suffer an unpleasant mishap.
