Chamomile Tea is a herbal tea made from dried daisy like Chamomile flowers. It does not contain any leaves of true tea plant. Chamomile tea is made from just the flower heads of the plant. It is one of the oldest herbal tea drinks in the world.
Chamomile is a flowering plant for the daisy Asteraceae family. It smells slightly like apple and has a somewhat sweetish flavor. Chamomile tea is a herbal caffeine-free tea and a good alternative to black or green tea. The dried chamomile tea is brewed in hot water to extract flavours. This tea can be served hot or cold.
Mostly two varieties of this tea are used- Roman Chamomile and German Chamomile. Chamomile tea is also known to have remedial effect for some ailments.
