Japanese brand has revealed a new red-hot edition of its potent retro-inspired sports car and two years after the regular Nissan Z's debut, say hello to the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO.

NISMO, for those not in the know, stands for Nissan Motorsports.

The source is still a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, but Nissan engineers followed the tried-and-true method of adding more boost.

Nissan engineers improved the engine oil cooler, increased the boost, and added more aggressive timing to bring output up to 420 hp (313 kW) and 384 pound-feet (521 Nm) of torque, increases of 20 hp and 34 pound-feet.

But it is matched exclusively with a nine-speed automatic transmission, as the six-speed manual gearbox of the regular Z has not been made available with the Nismo's higher-output engine.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO goes on sale in the fall. But it's a safe bet that it will be more than the Z Performance with the automatic, That model starts at $52,000. So expect the NISMO to come in closer to $60,000.
