The Acts of Saint John, the beloved disciple of Jesus (from 1st century AD) narrated by Joe D. Translated by Bernhard Pick in 1909. This is Librivox recording and is in public domain - https://librivox.org/. The Acts of John is a second century collection of Christian-based narratives and traditions, relating the travels and miraculous deeds of John the Apostle, one of the three closest disciples of Jesus. Together with the Acts of Paul, it is considered one of the most significant of the Apostolic Acts in the New Testament apocrypha.

Acts of John consist of the following sections:

1. An introduction or transition (Acts John 18). (The original beginning of the story has been lost.)
2. Conversion of Cleopatra and Lycomedes (Acts John 19–29)
3. Healing at the Ephesian Theatre (Acts John 30–36)
4. Conversion at the Temple of Artemis (Acts John 37–47)
5. The Parricide (Acts John 48–54)
6. Summons from Smyrna (Acts John 55)
7. Story of the Bedbugs (Acts John 58–62)
8. Callimachus and Drusiana (Acts John 63–86)

9. Assumption of Saint John:

The traditional tomb of John the Apostle in Ephesus (Turkey).
The various manuscripts of the Acts of John differ in many points, including their endings, some of which report his death as follows:

Having sealed himself in every part… and laid himself down in the trench where he had strewn his garments, and having said unto us: "Peace be with you, brethren," he gave up his spirit rejoicing.

Some sources add: "We who were there rejoiced, some of us, and some mourned… And forthwith manna issuing from the tomb was seen of all, which manna that place produceth even unto this day."

Another tradition relates: "We brought a linen cloth and spread it upon him, and went into the city. And on the day following we went forth and found not his body, for it was translated by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto whom be glory."

And finally: "On the morrow we dug in the place, and him we found not, but only his sandals, and the earth springing up like a well."
