An HT2050 was dropped off with a complaint of dust spots in the lens area on a seemingly low-hour lamp. After tangling with the best way to open it, the dust proved to be incredibly persistent.

After numerous attempts, confusion as to why the dust was still showing up left me questioning what was really going on. Bad DMD? Lens Gremlins? Misplaced SpaceX Starlink Satellites blocking the view?

Finally, after talking to the owner some more, he informed me that the lamp timer had been reset and the lamp hours were probably well past the suggested life span. A new lamp solved the issue once and for all.

From then on, I always try a new lamp when I see things like this. It's proven a useful lesson.

See this link if you need a projector lamp for an HT2050: https://www.purelandsupply.com/benq-l...

I'll have a link here to a follow-up I did after this was all figured out. It's a quick teardown/cleaning video. That should be up this weekend. I'll swap it out with this text. If you are reading this, it is not posted yet.

Cheers!

Frank
