In the Lonesome Road DLC if you spare Ulysses he will tell you how to defeat Legate Lanius through deception by telling him that he will die by an NCR ambush at Hoover Dam and end up like the failure of Joshua Graham if he continues to fight the second battle. You will need speech skill of at least 90 or higher to get this ending as well
