It's been ages since I found something that suited my playstyle this well!


I started watching Trigun Stampede a few days ago, and the moment I heard the villain pianist's theme I knew it was written for me specifically. I saw it called "Interstellar OST but anime" and honestly, it's not far off! It's in A minor, and the harmony and overall vibe is similar in places, and both make for great piano arrangements.

I transcribed this one in one sitting yesterday, and I learned to play it and recorded it in the span of 24 hours LOL, you could say I got possessed for a day. I swear, it's so much fun though. It plays to all my strengths! I love love love those left-hand octaves playing the melody while the right hand has all those 16th notes, the hand crossings, the triplet melody against the 16th note ostinato, man I just love the whole thing.

And as I listened to it, I realized it reminded me a bit of another OST in style, and I was right - Tatsuya Kato who composed the music also worked on the OST for Revue Starlight along with some others, which I covered so much of back in the day (almost 5 years ago?!)

Side note: Through this entire recording my doggo was asleep, splayed out on the carpet, right next to my foot. Sadly, it turned out to be just out of frame this time 😔
