2022 decided to throw one more gut punch at me before the end. On the evening of December 30th, 2022, while parked outside of the popular Churchill bar/restaurant collective located in downtown Phoenix, my Tesla Model 3 Performance was struck by a white Mercedes. The culprit scraped my rear drivers side bumper as he was backing out of the spot to the left of my vehicle and then immediately took off. I was alerted at the moment of impact via the Tesla app and came outside just in time to see his car leaving the scene. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. But our hope is, with your help, we can track down the driver responsible for damaging my car so he can pay for the repairs. With the help of some good Samaritan bystanders, the Phoenix Police, and my Tesla’s dashcam, we were able to identify the vehicle owner in less than an hour. I was able to get in touch with the driver who hit my car the next day and after about of week of negotiations and estimates, we were able to come to an agreement. Two weeks later, my dream car is back home and essentially good as new. Special thanks to the Phoenix Police Department and to Apex Auto Paint for everything they did to help me.

We need your help deciding which electric SUV we should buy. Our Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S RWD is finally built and should arrive this week; however, Tesla’s recent price reductions are forcing us to reconsider buying the Tesla Model Y Long Range. Now, both the ID.4 and the Model Y qualify for the $7,500 federal IRA EV Tax Credit. While these price cuts are great for anyone considering buying the first EV, the unfortunate side effect is the negative effect it has on the value of our Model 3 Long Range RWD which we’re planning on trading in. We have three options: keep the Model 3, buy the ID.4 for $47,495 (before the tax credit), or upgrade to the Model Y which starts at $52,990 (before the credit). What it will likely come down to is the VW dealership’s trade in offer on our Model 3. Tesla’s offer was abysmal, almost nullifying the new price reductions/discounts. We need your help. Let us know what you think we should do in the comments section below.
