Turning back the pages of film music history, there are few instances where you can listen to an entire score and smile with the knowledge that you’ve just experienced a true masterpiece. This is very difficult to achieve, of course. The score has to carry the story to the point where the two seem inseparable. It’s hard to imagine 1986’s The Mission without Ennio Morricone’s score.
