Fire crews and other personnel are working to contain the wildfire in the Croatan National Forest that’s grown to an estimated size of 35,000 acres with 10% containment.

New Bern Now saw personnel from the N.C. Forest Service, Craven County, N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, City of New Bern, Craven Sheriff’s Office, Piedmont Natural Gas and other agencies on County Line Road in the forest this afternoon.

This video was recorded today at 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of County Line Road, National Forest Road and Middle Road. The crews were clearing brush and working on Middle Road (also labeled National Forest Road on GPS). Correction: Meant to say North Carolina, not National when referring to the Forest Service.

The fire appeared to be located approximately two miles from the intersection of Brices Creek Road and County Line Road.
