ये फिल्म भारत में जातिप्रथा पर प्रहार करती है , फिल्म का नायक मुकेश एक ऊँची जाति का नौजवान है जो पढ़ लिखकर भी खेती करना चाहता है जबकि उसके घरवाले उसे नोकरी कराना चाहते है जिस कारन उसको घर से दूर पढाया जाता है, फिल्म की नायिका मोनिका एक सफाई कर्मचारी ( छोटी जात ) से है लेकिन उसे इस बात में कोई शर्म नहीं बल्कि गर्व है की भगवान् ने हमें सफाई जेसा काम दिया है और मोनिका अपने काम को बड़ी शान से करती है
मुकेश जब पढाई पूरी करके गाँव आता है तो उसकी मुलाक़ात मोनिका से होती है , चूँकि मोनिका खुबसूरत भी है और उसके विचार मुकेश को पसंद आते है और मुकेश की सोच मोनिका को अच्छी लग जाती है दोनों में प्यार हो जाता है समाज और घरवाले इस बात का विरोध करते है लेकिन उनकी सोच और सच्चे प्यार के सामने उनके घरवाले और समाज को झुकना पड़ता है इस तरह नयी सोच और अच्छे विचारों की जीत होती है
