Sidney Moncrief is a retired American professional basketball player. During his collegiate years from 1975 to 1979, Moncrief represented the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, guiding them to the 1978 Final Four and securing victory in the NCAA Consolation Game against #6 Notre Dame. Known by various nicknames such as Sid the Squid, Sir Sid, and El Sid, Moncrief enjoyed an 11-season career in the National Basketball Association (NBA), with the majority of his time spent with the Milwaukee Bucks over ten seasons. He earned five NBA All-Star selections and became the recipient of the first two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards in 1983 and 1984. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Moncrief was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019.
