Craig Revel Horwood says he thought Patrick Kielty would 'never amount to anything'
Craig Revel Horwood was brutally honest to Patrick Kielty when he appeared on Friday night's Late Late Show.

The pair actually go way back, as host Patrick Kielty revealed they had worked together before.

They met on a show in the early 2000s called Fame Academy.Patrick said: "Not a lot of people know this, but we go back a long way. 20 odd years ago we were on Fame Academy. This was before you took a nasty turn, you were a nice judge."

"The funny thing is, that's true," Craig replied. "And I never thought you'd amount to anything! It's amazing, it's fabulous."

Patrick and the audience laughed off the cheeky comment before the interview took a more serious turn, when Craig opened up about growing up with an alcoholic father.

"It got to the point where he tried to shoot my mum," said Craig. "It was a disaster, you can imagine.

"Having to live with it, even as a child, or a mother, or a grandparent, is just horrible. I didn't want to talk about it... I was very uncomfortable with the whole thing."

He continued: "He ended up a very lonely, old many really, in the middle of the Australian outback, on a trout farm. He divorced himself from society entirely."

After his death, Craig admitted he had been expecting it on some level.

"It was a shock, even though I was probably expecting it," he said. "I know there's a lot of people out there who have gone through it, and are still living with it. But you can overcome it, is what I'm saying."

Viewers were deeply moved by his honesty during the interview.
