Frank Vinci composed this theme for the CBS broadcast of Super Bowl XXVI in Jan 1992. The theme was used until the final NFC Championship Game on CBS was televised in Jan 1994.

When the NFL returned to CBS in 1998 with the AFC games, CBS updated Vinci's theme two more times before moving on to the E.S. Posthumus theme that the network still uses today. This version is the original 1992 theme first heard during Super Bowl XXVI.
