Bob Welch helped create the band back in the early 1970s and shaped their sound for years to come. Unfortunately for the band, Bob ran into some troubling circumstances just when Fleetwood Mac’s music began to take off.

Bob struggled with addiction all throughout his lifetime. Bob Welch decided to leave the famous band in the mid 1970s to try and get a grip on his life and his own music. Bob set out to become a solo artist, but like many, he did not reach the fame he wanted. Though some of Bob’s songs hit the billboards, his career fizzled out in the early 1980s. Desperate for a change, Bob moved to Nashville, where things went south.

Much like Bob, the band experienced heartbreak and failure over the years. Though the band became famous for their unique sound, many of the couples within the band went through pain, betrayal, and divorce. Fleetwood Mac soon became notorious for scandalous affairs within the group.

While the members were reaching new heights of fame, many of their personal lives were in chaos. Ironically, while friendships and marriages were falling apart, the new album titled “Rumors” was released and soon became one of the most beloved records of all time. Rumors would be hard to top for the band after receiving a record breaking number of sales.
